Reflection on Use of Technology
This was the first time that I used technology other than the projector for a lesson but my
comfort level was good for this lesson mainly because I have seen this type of technology done
before in one of my college classes. Also, my comfort level was good because I practiced using
this form of technology before. The technology that I did for my lesson was a PowerPoint in the
form of the game Jeopardy. A success that I encountered during my lesson when using this
technology was that the students seemed to really enjoy this form of review because they don’t
really see this type of technology used in their classroom. There was good classroom
management during this lesson because I think of the technology too. Also, another success
when using this technology was that it gave me instant feedback on what the students were
struggling with during the review. There were a few technical difficulties when using this
technology. The first problem that I encountered was after the students chose a category and how
many points they were trying to go for a question the screen didn’t mark those points so that we
knew it was already chosen. I dealt with this problem by marking the questions that were already
chosen with sticky notes so that the class didn’t try to choose those points again. Then another
problem that I encountered was that the PowerPoint during the review exited me out of it. I dealt
with this problem really fast by just clicking on the PowerPoint again so that it would go over the
projector for the students to see. Like I said before the technology that I used was a PowerPoint
in the form of the game Jeopardy and I downloaded the Jeopardy format off a website and it set
up my PowerPoint to work/look like the game. All I had to do was fill out the PowerPoint of
what I wanted it show during the review. The artifact is a picture of PowerPoint I used for this
lesson.

Reflection on Student Learning
The technology that I used further enhanced this lesson and student learning. It enhanced
my lesson because it made it more interesting for the students. Instead of having a plan old
review on a piece of paper for students to do this PowerPoint Jeopardy review game enhanced
the students learning because it made them more interactive with the lesson and challenged them
at some moments. I was able to see what the students were struggling with in this review and
take some time to go over some questions with them. Doing this enhanced the students’ learning
too because I made them question problems and have some of them even come up to the front of
the class and explain their reasoning to the answers they were giving me. The claim that I can
make about student learning based on my lesson with technology integration is that it hit all my
students’ needs. This technology integration was a good activity for diverse learners because it
had group work, visuals, class discussions, and the whole class working together at some points.
The students were actively engaged during the lesson. Students were answering their Jeopardy
questions, coming up to the white board and showing their work, working with the group
members to come up with the correct answers to the questions, participating in class discussions,
etc. There were some moments where I had to ask for different students to raise their hands and
explain a problem but overall there was a lot of engagement during this lesson. The artifact that I
am showing for this section is a screenshot of the question that the majority of the students were
having trouble with during this review. There was class discussion about how to answer this
question and student learning was being challenged here. Also, it showed me that I needed to
focus more on this part of the lesson later because of the number of students that were struggling
with the concept.

Reflection on Teacher Learning
Doing this lesson made the students react in a positive way. All the students were
involved and engaged throughout the whole lesson. If I presented this lesson again I would do
some things differently. I would first have more review questions on the Jeopardy game that
were more challenging to gifted students so they can think problems through too. Also, I would
want to use the smartboard with this lesson next time so that the students can come up and
interact with the game/technology more and press on the categories instead of me doing it for
them. Areas in which I would like to grow as a result of teaching this lesson is first using more
technology in the classroom. Seeing how well using technology went for this lesson and how it
made the students more engaged and motivated to answer questions really showed me that
student learning can benefit from using technology in the classroom. Also, I would like to grow
in teaching more math lessons and learn the different strategies to use when teaching them
because I really enjoyed doing this lesson with the class. Other support that would have helped
me complete this project are my CT because she knows her students well and what they need to
work on and other website game generators for Jeopardy PowerPoints. The artifact that I am
using for this section is a screenshot of me right before I started the lesson. After each lesson that
I do I grow little bit more confident in certain areas. This was the first time doing a lesson with
technology involved and my comfort level was good but I wasn’t sure how this lesson would
turn out and if the students would like it. After this lesson was done I learned new things about it
and what I could do next time to improve it. This artifact shows me before I learned new things
about myself as a teacher, which is that it is important that technology is incorporated into the
classroom.
