Attention Getting Strategy

For this task I used the same attention getting strategy my CT uses with the students. The attention getting strategy is when my CT says, "Class Class" and the class stops what they are doing and says, "Yes Yes" back to my CT. I really like this attention getting strategy because it is really fast and easy to learn and teach to students. Is that why my CT uses this attention getting strategy? Or is it just something she picked up? I have seen my CT use this every single time I am in her class and it really seems to work. My CT really uses it when she has to transition into a new lesson or when she is noticing the class getting off task. When I used my CT's attention getting strategy some students were coming back into the classroom from RTI. The class was starting to talk because instructions were not given out yet so I decided to use the attention getting strategy to get them to come back and start listening. I said, "Class Class" and they all stopped what the were doing and said, "Yes Yes." Then I asked them to take out their Social Studies books and turn to a certain page that we were about to go over. The class listened to me and stated to get out their Social Studies books. I think when I am teaching my own class I will use my CT's attention getting strategy because I noticed it really works and doesn't take up a whole lot of class time. It is especially good to use in a second grade classroom like I'm in now because the students are still at that age were they get very distracted. As a teacher you need a strategy that works fast to get everyone's attention.
