Resolving A Conflict

This task was different from the other ones I have done before. I had to help two students resolve a conflict. I have noticed my CT helping students solve conflicts before and she always makes sure it get it resolved right away. I think my CT talks to the students right away and fixes the issue in a timely manner because she doesn't want the students to forget the conflict or think they are getting away with it. You have to be sensitive to all of the students' feelings and hear what they have to say. I think that address the conflicts will show the students that they can't get away with bad/rude behavior. My CT had to have a substitute teacher for a few hours in the morning and I had to work with the substitute teacher. The class is usually really well behaved and they don't act out. Were there more issues because there was a substitute teacher? Were the students just having an off day? The conflict that I had to resolve between two students was that one of the students was laughing at an other student. I could tell when the student told me he was being laughed at he was very hurt by it. He looked really sad and when he was explaining to me what happened his voice was really low and down. I think he was a little embarrassed because the substitute teacher yelled at him to stop talking with his group and do his work in front of the whole class and then he saw the other student laugh at him right after. The students usually work in groups and talk but the substitute teacher wanted them to work individually and not talk at all. So I think the different rules was throwing the whole class off. I can even admit that the way the substitute teacher was running the classroom was throwing me off too. Even though the teacher had different rules it did not justify the student laughing at her classmate. So I had her apologize to the other student. The two students were okay right after I helped them with their conflict and started on their work again.
