Morning Meeting

For this task I got to lead a morning meeting. My CT doesn't do morning meetings in her class so I never got to watch her do one before I did mine. The week before I did the morning meeting I brought all the students to the rug and explained what a morning meeting was all about. I asked if they knew what a morning meeting was and all of them said no. Do the teachers just don't have the time? Do they think it's not really important? I really don't know the real reason. Anyways, the day I did my morning meeting I had the class write down on a note card what they wanted to be when they grow up and why. All of the students seemed very excited and engaged with this question. After they were done writing out their answers on the note cards I told them to share with a partner. I made it clear that they need to pay attention to what their partner says because they are going to share what their partners said to the whole class. When the students were sharing I had to stop a few times because I heard some of them talking and wanted them to pay attention. All of their answers to the question were really cute and it was interesting to hear why they chose that job. For the class to have never have done a morning meeting they did a good job. Having them share makes them interact with their peers and build their communication skills.
